A Higher Level of Rigor

In the United States today, there are roughly 80 Credentials Verification Organizations (CVOs) that is certified by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) or accredited by the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC). Of those 80 CVOs, only seven are dually-assessed by both NCQA and URAC. Professional Credential Verification Service (PCVS) is one of them.

Holding both NCQA certification and URAC accreditation for CVOs has long been reflective of marketplace excellence for PCVS. Both accrediting bodies possess different assessment philosophies, which together, reinforce the efficacy and efficiency of PCVS’s CVO portfolio of services.

NCQA, founded in 1990, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. For various organizations, consumers, and employers, NCQA certification is a reliable indicator that an organization is well-managed and delivers high quality care and/or services. NCQA-certified organizations must pass rigorous, comprehensive reviews and annually report on their performance. NCQA has a straight-forward formula for quality:  measure, analyze, improve, repeat; the resulting improvements in quality of care and services translates to lives saved, illnesses avoided and costs reduced.

URAC, also found in 1990, has developed evidence-based measures and standards focused less on what is done and more on the processes that support outcomes. URAC accreditation creates the framework for continuous process and performance improvement, through a non-prescriptive standards approach that allows an organization to continuously evolve. URAC accreditation is a national symbol of excellence that validates a commitment to quality and accountability.2

PCVS is proud to be one of only a handful of dually-assessed CVOs by NCQA and URAC in the nation. We voluntarily subject our CVO services to NCQA and URAC review because we are passionate about lean, efficient processes that produce the highest level of quality services for our clients. Our continuous dually-assessed CVO status gives our clients peace of mind the services they are receiving meet or exceed numerous regulatory, accreditation and organizational requirements, which directly translates to the delivery of quality, cost effective care.
